A woman called me from this "company", claiming that my life insurance needed a review as it hadn't been reviewed in the last year. I asked her where they got my data from and she told me they represent 17 major life insurance companies. I asked her which one had given them my data, and she could only tell me that it was "opted-in data" and not the source.
Since I don't have life insurance, this is clearly a telemarketer trying to sell me life insurance, and one who is breaking the rules on GDPR under the Data Protection Act (2018).
She told me she would delete my telephone number, and I asked her to delete all my data and confirm to me that it had been done. She would only tell me that she would do it.
During the call, she told me that she "doesn't ring people to have conversations like this", just because I was asking her about her company and where they got my data from. She even told me the company doesn't have a company number!
